Apprenticeships Speech in Westminster Hall

Today I spoke in Westminster Hall about apprenticeships. The lack of understanding about apprenticeships amongst students, parents and teachers presents a huge barrier to their access. This barrier prevents young people from even applying.
I asked what more we can do to improve awareness of the availability of apprenticeships.

It was a wonderful day out canvassing in the Two Gates area of Darwen today! I had a great time knocking on doors and speaking directly with residents on behalf of our brilliant local Labour candidates, including Martin McCaughran here in Darwen East.
We are out here, and we are listening. It is incredibly encouraging to hear time and again from residents about how engaged our councillors are and how much their willingness to help is appreciated.
A fantastic example of this local support is the £20,000 recently secured for the Two Gates Bowling Club! 🎳 This vital funding will go toward urgent repairs, ensuring this brilliant community asset can keep its doors open for everyone to enjoy.
We have lots more doors to knock on over the coming days, but please remember how important your voice is.
Make sure you vote locally this Thursday, and vote for a hard working Darwen Labour team!
