Welcoming the Devolution Package in Parliament

I spoke in Parliament to welcome today’s announcement of one of the largest ever single packages of mayoral devolution in England. Six new areas will join the Devolution Priority Programme – with mayors to be elected in May 2026.
I asked the Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner to join me in calling on Lancashire leaders to grasp this generational opportunity. I’m very grateful to her for joining me in expressing the hope that Lancashire will have a mayor in 2026 and pledging to work with local leaders to deliver this.

For the past year, I have been supporting residents along Burnley Road East in their campaign for a speed camera on the most dangerous section of the road. Just before the local elections, Lancashire County Council confirmed we would finally be getting it.

I am now calling on the new Reform leadership at county hall to work with me to protect our residents and get this camera installed without delay.

Must have missed this!! This is great news. Where is it being installed please? And how can we support. Thanks!

This is in the budget of the last administration so it would be really annoying if it didn't happen after all the work that Julie Adshead and I put into it. But since one of the first announcements that Reform have made is to spend £2.5m on a referendum on future administrative arrangements I do wonder if they have different priorities 🤔

Is there any progress with Booth Road Waterfoot?
